Learn why your child should Play Lacrosse.

Why Lacrosse?

There are many great reasons for your kids to get involved in organized sports at an early age. The positive effects of childhood participation in sports go far beyond the physical and can positively impact them mentally, emotionally, and socially. By playing Lacrosse, your kids will have fun while making new friends and learning fundamental skills that will help them as they grow.

Here are just some of the skills your kids will learn:

The Fundamentals of Lacrosse

Clubs across Ontario practice and emphasize the fundamental skills required to play Lacrosse:

  • Catching and throwing

  • Picking up ground balls

  • Shooting

  • Defensive technique and positioning

  • Team communication

  • Field awareness

All these will help with balance, eye-hand coordination, overall physicality and strength, and many other physical skills.

Discipline

Like anything, becoming good at something takes practice and discipline. Two life skills that your kids will learn through organized sports.

Teamwork

In Lacrosse, every player needs to rely on their teammates to create off-ball offence, pass the ball, communicate to clear the ball, scrap hard for ground balls, and support each other on defence. Lacrosse teaches kids how to work together toward a common goal while supporting their team's success.

Communication

Lacrosse requires continuous communication among all players, which requires learning to communicate effectively within the team on and off the field.

Leadership

Lacrosse is a fast-paced, dynamic sport with few in-game stoppages, which means that players learn through play and practice how to make good on-field decisions and communicate with their teammates.
